The
position of the Buddha's hands mean love. The purple globe
of our world is also representative of the circle of life
and death. Panya often uses purple in his work because he
feels it has a mysterious quality. European art tradition
may associate the purple with luxury and decadence, however
Panya's purple is made by mixing the blue (sky) with red (heaven).
Ceilings of Thai temples are traditionally painted red.
